Jesus, how do I even begin? For starters, I didn't exactly live up to my promise a few years ago when I said I'd "come back". To be frank, I was too busy trying to think of and prepare the perfect comeback to the point I ended up not even returning or posting anything. The only activity I've been doing is faving other artworks and tutorials. However, I am not by any means as rusty as I thought I was. As a matter of fact, I've been drawing and studying other aspects in art such as perspective, digital art, human anatomy, shading, and so much more that would require a lot of dedication to even grasp a proper understanding of its concept.
But back to me being back for sure. I am not sure if my watchers are still around but I highly doubt that a big portion of them are active. Sadly, life is constantly changing for the better or for the worse. But I don't plan on giving up just yet. Speaking of giving up, I did, in fact, contemplate if I were to give up pixel art for sure.
I can recall the very reason why I even started pixel art to begin with. I was hooked to fakemon but that alone wasn't what got me into spriting. What really got me was the amazing artwork of Kyle-Dove
. He was truly a skilled pokemon styled/influenced pixel artist. His command in pixels were simply amazing.
No one back then was really like him. He could literally make all the necessary visual resources for a pokemon game by himself. And his tiles, my god, they were unmatched and unique at that time more than 5 years ago. While his art got my attention, the fakemon community that time was at a golden age. The diversity and originality of the fakemon designs and concepts were simply amazing.
I can still remember seeing such unique designs and the fakemon artists back then were more active. Unfortunately, a golden age eventually passes. Not only were majority of the amazing fakemon designers I knew are currently inactive, but also their art seems to be in private storage, removed completely, or just... gone. It's like everything beautiful that you loved was just... gone. It's honestly a shame that around 90% of the fakemon and their projects didn't really come true.
I was surprised to see the Kyle's project was still ongoing despite all these years. I guess you can call what I'm feeling nostalgia and melancholy. However, I am still able to at least see the remenants of the golden age of fakemon in some ways. I look back and see that my hands are actually itching to sprite again and I will. I may not be good enough to make decent digital art or traditional art, however, I am still the spriter that I was years ago.
In fact, my perception improved since I was studying the true fundamentals of art which was something I never did years back. Also, I was thinking if I were to return back to Fakemon. And my answer is yes, I will still be doing Fakemon. However, I plan to extend the coverage of my art. I will focus on other games, fanbases, characters, etc. I want to make it my mission to make art that will be remembered and will make the viewer say "Oh! That's gouchua
Lastly, I just want to say thank you to the fakemon community that I still remember. Good things come to an end at some point. So I will make it my mission to bring back that feeling that I had when I discovered the community.By the way, I will be inheriting a new laptop and my old one is deceased. It served me well for over 8 years now even though I had to sprite with a touchpad and 2 black holes on the screen that would get in the way of my spriting. xD
See you guys soon. I'll be back with pixel art and get back into spriting machine shape. I also thank those who are still waiting for me.
